Meet Carol Slocum. She can't wait to wake up in the morning and make a positive difference in people's lives. In her career, this enthusiasm has earned Carol the respect of her clients and peers, alike. Because of her gregarious, energetic and helpful nature, it seems as if she can't walk down the street without seeing someone she knows or whose life she's touched in some way. Because She Cares
Starting out as a dental hygienist, Carol was passionate about making a difference even in the beginning. Instead of simply working in a dentist's office, she elected to get her degree in Dental Hygiene Public Health and then brought her knowledge and experience to the New Hampshire school system. She traveled throughout the state, educating students about the importance of dental health. She loved her work and the impact it made in the children's lives.
What She Does Best
When it comes to what Carol does best, attending to the needs of those around her, it's her community that benefits the most. Aside from her work in public health, she has participated tirelessly as both a coach and a volunteer in "Destination Imagination" and other creative youth educational programs that foster spontaneous problem solving. She was on the Board of Directors for "Pathways for Keene" project that helped develop a bike trail that runs through the city of Keene. Carol is also involved with the local Kiwanis Club and the Keene Chamber of Commerce. And if that's not enough, she sings in her church choir, too.
When Carol isn't working to make a difference in her community, her favorite way to enjoy her free time is by traveling, especially to the beach and tropical locations like the Caribbean, or going on her annual trip to Ogunquit Beach in Maine. She also enjoys snow skiing, bicycle riding, gardening and walking.
